Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Route is known to be a quite safe and well signed route. However, I find the risk KK hiking is being underestimated recently. Bears are being spotted too. And in fact, tragical accidents occurred in the last few years along Kumano Kodo (you can google). One of which, the hiker is still missing because she was walking alone and nobody knows what happened to her. If only she’d got a mate to walk with, I believe she could go home…

If you insist to walk alone, at least, booking accommodations through Kumano-Travel.com is strongly recommended. If you do so, the accommodations you will stay can have information about the guest and the previous and next accommodation together. This connection of imformation can support solo hikers safety.

If you book a guest house one by one separately, there can be no connection of information, and nobody can find out if a solo hiker get missing. (The hike will be simply thought as “No Show”, and nobody would start searching immediately.)

Most of the guests who stayed at Komorian know that the host is a worrier. (Worrier enough to decide not to accept solo hiker anymore for the hiker’s safety.)

• The ingredients which can be eliminated are BEEF, PORK, CHICKEN (and each broth), COOKED FISH, RAW FISH (sashimi) and SHRIMP ONLY.

You can bring your luggage with you on the local bus to Takiijiri bus stop on the check in day. Your luggage will be collected by our shuttle car at Takijiri bus stop 滝尻バス停 and you can start walking with light backpack. No arrangement is needed.

※ In the case you will not walk on the check in day, you and your luggage will be collected by our shuttle car together at the Takijirii bus stop.
